I'm planning and island-hopping trip through the Caribbean. Are there any camping facilities in the region that are in a rural, relaxed setting?

St. John's Cinnamon Bay Campgrounds (340-776-6330) are run by the U.S. Park Service and are just off one of the Caribbean's best beaches. Maho Bay Camps (340-776-6226) have tent cottages and complete amenities.

The BVI's offerings include Brewer's Bay Campground on Tortola (284-494-3463) and White Bay Campground (284-495-9358) on Jost Van Dyke and Mac's Place (284-495-8020) on Anegada.

Puerto Rico Dept. of Natural Resources (809-724-8774) controls camping permits in national parks, including Tio Abajo state forest, Toro Negro forest reserve and Susua forest reserve to name a few. Camping on Puerto Rico's public beaches, including Luquillo, Seven Seas and Rincon, requires a permit from the Sports & Recreation Department (809-772-1551).

On Martinique, Corbaril Camping (011-596-596-68-32-30) and Le Nid (011-596-596-68-31-30) are available.
