We are planning a vacation on Turks & Caicos. I would like some feedback on the best place to stay. Ocean Club, Ocean Club West, Coral Gardens, The Sands, Royal West Indies?

Coral Gardens is nice and has a fabulous restaurant called Coyaba. The beach is nice there and it's very quiet.

Coral Gardens is wonderful. We stayed there summer before last. The reef is right there so you can snorkel right off the beach and water is absolutely amazinging! It's more of a condo atmosphere rather than a hotel. It's very quiet and peaceful and a beautiful part of the beach. The Sands is also nice and their restaurant, Hemingways has good food, reasonable price and it overlooks the water. If I had a second choice, it would probably be the Sands. The Royal West Indies looks nice and I've heard pretty good things about it, but it's at a very far end of the beach and I think there's alot of construction going on around it (I might be wrong, though). Ocean Club and Ocean Club West - we've had friends stay here and they really liked it, but I didn't like the rooms being so far away from the water. At Coral Gardens, you are very close to the water. Coyaba Restaurant is good, but not favorite. Our most favorite restaurant was Magnolia - it's NOT TO BE MISSED....excellent food, excellent service, beautiful view - go for sunset. Coco Bistro was another good restaurant.

The Turks & Caicos Club is a nice small upscale hotel if you want another hotel next to the reef.

We've been to Turks & Caicos about 4 times starting about 7 years ago. Beaches is nice, but you have to put up with kids. The Coral Gardens is terrific and about 1/4 mile from Beaches. The beaches at Turks & Caicos are the BEST in the Caribbean!!
Last stay (last year) was to the Ocean club, THE NEWER ONE. Stay there and visit the older one and you'll see why! Most of our meals last year were to off-site restaurants and, believe me, one is better than the last one. If you're stayng for more than 5 days, make sure you pick one you like most and return...they remember!
Good luck and have a great trip!!

Coral Gardens for the on-site snorkeling.
