Can anyone tell me how the snorkeling is at these two destinations. I see some nice beach there in photos, and the descriptions say they have snorkeling sure to please, but I am a tad skeptical. They don't don't come out and say anything more such as snorkeling at "this reef" only "X" minutes away, etc...
What can you tell me?

I can only speak to the St. Kitts Nevis area. It is ok, nothing to jump up and down about. We have always been with our kids who are happy to see any fish and we will do it off the beach at the marriot or turtle beach. The better spots are along the rocky coasts and reached only by boat (we usually do the snorkling/nevis day trip with Elvis once when we go). You will find beautiful deserted beaches, very natural at and along the way to turtle beach. You will need a car and a sense of adventure to get to the best of them!

Many of the beaches on St. Maarten were too rought to snorkle. We did go to Mullett Bay and the snorkelling was fair there. After snorkelling at Baby Beach on Aruba, we were disappointed with the snorkelling on SXM.
Perhaps the French side (St. Martin) is better? Not sure about that. Anyone else?
