St. John or St. Thomas??

My husband and I want to stay at an all inclusive resort at either St. John or St. Thomas, USVI. I can't seem to make up my mind. I would love to do the water sports and relax on the beach. Does anyone have any suggestions? Which island is better??

If shopping is not one of your priorities then St John is the better island. The problem you will have is there is not an all inclusive resort on St. John.

I second...STJ is our favorite...although no all-inclusives. We stay at lavenderhillsuites.com and absolutely love our view of Cruz Bay. The five minute walk to town is a huge plus...as well! Good Luck!

Not a lot that can be added to the points already made. If you want the large hotel thing, and must have all incl., then you have to choose St Thomas, but if you want a hotel and can afford the non-all inclusive aspect, (and the room price) you have the Westin and Caneel on St John. Duty free shopping on St. Thomas is only an inexpensive ferry ride away. St. Thomas has some beautiful spots, but, it's obvously more developed and busier. My money (literally) is on St. John.

this answer is a no-brainer....simply use STT to get to STJ.....fly in to STT, take a cab to Red Hook Bay, take the ferry to Cruz Bay, and never look back at STT until you're forced to travel back to the airport. We've found STJ to be wonderful, STT is not.,......enjoy.....

Hello sunny!thats a hard question but if you want to relax on a beautiful beach and swim I would recommend St. John, especially Hawksnest beach, beautiful water and not crowded, that is my favorite.A beautiful place to stay in St. John that I would HIGHLY recommend is ESTATE LINDHOLM. It is not all inclusive but you can get a BEAUTIFUL room with a great view of Cruz Bay AND the ocean for $200 per night. It is a beautiful place to stay with big beautiful rooms.The number to Estate Lindholm is 1-340-776-6141. You cant go wrong staying there. Also it is close to Cruz bay and the little shops there.

Both, and i will tell you why.No question st.john is more pristine and less commercial than st.thomas, but you can do both. Forget the all-inclusive, unless you are just ragging alcoholics, you can rent a villa on st.thomas, which i have done, for less than a hotel, if you have another couple to go with you.Rent a villa on st.thomas in peterborg overlooking magens bay or the atlantic, rent a car for the week,you can drive the rental on the ferry over to st.john, and have both. I highly recommend www.mclaughlinanderson.com for villa rental. You want be disappointed.
