Well, apparently the server at CTL crashed and I am leaving the country for a couple of weeks so, I'll reply to thepost about St Thomas shopping for jewelry here. Cardows! They might even mention them on the ship and you may hear of or see others with free items available, but for quality, service (almost always) and pricing well under what items will be later appraised for back home, Cardows is the place to buy. While were at it, I've had very good luck with selection, price and service for items like cameras, watches and the like at AH Riise, which is also in town. But, for the best buys on liquor, everyone's secret favorite is (sorry but it's true) K-Mart. You'll need to take a taxi there, but sharing with a few shipmates will get you there safely and quickly for the best prices I've seen in the islands. When you get to the end of the road of stores, stop in for lunch at the Green House, right next to the Hard Rock Cafe. Great island and American food at much better prices than the Hard Rock, which doesn't have conch fritters besides. Enjoy with a cold Carib beer, drop your booty back off on the ship and head to Saphire Bay for the beach. Everyone will be heading for Magens Bay from the ship, but to enjoy a great beach with less crowds, try Saphire.

I'll try this again! Thanks so much Mark for you info on St. Thomas! When I posted my question, I was hoping you would reply, you are a wealth of information!
I usually buy my jewellery while in Aruba every year, but was told St. Thomas is even better, so am holding out until Feb. for that big diamond!
Two of our other ports that we have never been to are Antigua and Puerto Rico. If you have any "must sees or must dos" for those places, feel free to email me!
Thanks again Mark, I appreciate your info!

Hello Carib Mark and you are spot on about Cardows being a great place to shop! Always remember when you shop in Charlotte Amalie make sure you bargain with the vendors and you will get a great deal. Tell them " hey I found this a lot cheaper over there, why are you so high"? They will come down on their prices and yes K-Mart is THE place to get liquor in St. Thomas. You can get a fifth of Cruzan Rum for less for less that $5.00 most of the time and they are always running specials. They had a special once where a fifth of Absolut vodka was only $7.99!!

Hello again Mark, If you are ever in St. Thomas on a Sunday, make sure you dont miss the outdoor cook out at Hull NBay beach on the North side of the island. There are always plentry of friendly locals there and they have greatr food and music also. It is my favorite party on the island.Another great beach is Platform beach close to Peterborg point. Sapphirte beachjis a good beach bu my favorite is Platform and it isd pretty close to Maagens beach but Platform is not crowded.

Hello Paige, I saw that you are going to visit Puerto Rico soon and I thought I might give you some quick tips while you are there. Old San Juan is a great place to shop,If you have the time you should hang out in CONDADO BEACH also. Another beautiful beach to go to if you happen to visit Culebra island is Flamenco beach. Culebra is a beaui8tfuil little island about20 miles off the east coast of P. R.I think Charlotte Amalie in St. Thomas is overall the best shopping in the islands but Old San Juan right at the port is also very good.
