divi southwinds beach resort

My husband and I just traded our timeshare to go to the divi southwinds in Barbados. Now I am a little concerned because I have read some really bad reviews. I am told it has been or is being renovated. Has anybody been recently? How bad is it? Any other tips on Barbados? ARE there any good reasonably priced places to eat there? We plan to go at the end of August.
