Status of Abaco

Has anyone heard how Abaco weathered Hurricane Wilma? We are traveling there the week of Nov 7th.

Wilma passed almost 200 miles north of Abaco. This doesn't mean the effects weren't felt, it merely means there was no direct hit. Reports also state that it was a category 3 and caused considerable damage on the island. The Abaco Beach Resort and Marina report that they suffered no damage and are open for business. These seem to conflict. I would suggest you or your travel agent contact the property you are to stay at to be sure. This is one of the great advantages to using an agent rather than booking direct through a travel website (Travelocity, Expedia, etc) as agents have been able to deal with the Mexican resorts, and I'm sure in the Bahamas and other locations, in protecting the interests of their clients more effectively than the websites have this year.
