Most Americans are interested in vacation promotion, especially when the traveler is coaxed into visiting a Caribbean Island like Barbados. Last month we read with interest when our eyes spotted
part of a small ad offering a vacation promotion the BEST of BARBADOS. While in Barbados we learned the Best of Barbados promotion is an off season promotion offered twice each year, in the spring after the winter high season and again in the fall after summer season. Because it is lightly promoted travel consumers can miss the offering. This writing is our effort to help spread the word.

The Deal A week in Beautiful Barbados, RT airfare, lodging at a 3-star Resort, daily breakfast, fees and taxes, $540 per person all in. The deal offered round trip Airfare at a whopping $600.00 savings per person on the airfare, choice of Hotel which included breakfast, which freed us from the constrains of the all inclusive style alternative
The offer was extended from four different Classes of Hotels offering different price points.
Decisions As Barbados virgins we looked forward to our first Barbados Island experience. We decided to assume the ever looming Hurricane threat and take a Barbados Plunge.
Air Travel We chose Air Jamaica over American for a more reasonable arrival time. Barbados is the farthest east of the West Indies island chain, located just about equal distant from Chicago as it is from London, seven hours flying time. A three hours flight from Montiego Bay, Jamaica. Barbados is independently governed and was formerly a British possession making the Island a popular holiday destination for Brits.
For those of you wondering about Air Jamaica as virgins to the airline we pleasantly surprised by the first class service treatment we received in coach from flight personnel, during the two rather lengthy flight segments. Flight crews seemed to be Brits while cabin crew were Jamaican Mon! For example can you name another airline which services free Champaign and Red Stripe beer, Mon?
Hotel Being value minded Travels we prefer to spend on vacation more often as opposed splurging on Luxury. After reading reviews on Trip Advisor.com to get an idea of what the hotel choices offered were we chose what turned out to be a value minded wise choice the family owned and run, three star, Coconut Court Beach Resort conveniently located on the South Coast, in Hastings, a short ride from the airport.

What the Hotel lacked in terms of signs of age, it made up for it in terms of feeling ecstatically charming, comfortably appointed, killer view (beachfront, all ocean view rooms). Complete with a shady palm tree lined beach Corona I’m sure must have used in one of it’s commercials. Our recently renovated room sported French double doors which opened to a sit and relax balcony. After opening those French door we did not close them the entire time of our one week stay (virtually insect free which I attribute to a healthy wild bird population on the island.). The balcony with the Killer view of the sparsely used beach became and extension to our spacious room where we sipped eye opener bloody marys, or Cream rum laced Jamician coffee in the morning and frozen vodka martinis at sunset before dinner (we kept the bottle in the freezer). The room was well appointed with air conditioning which we did not use, ceiling fan which we kept running, refrigerator, microwave, toaster, all of which we used.
Breakfast served in an alfresco dinning room nestled between the main bar and the palm lined beach was included in the Best Of Barbados promo and was an all you can eat buffet with a variety of hot and cold offerings. My favorite was the local Hash served with soft poached eggs prepared a different way each morning. Serving time was leisurely from 7am to 10am, which allowed for sleeping in and still get your licks in. We ate early as we awoke to the sound of the waves we fell asleep to the night before floated through those Open French doors.
