Wow, it's a shame to see this forum so lifeless! This used to be a great resource for information!

I agree, with this having been a great place to get info etc. - I read this for a very long time, just learning from everyone before I ever posted. I kept looking for a reply to mine as well (being a somewhat newbie to visiting the Carib) but oh well. I hope it picks up again, I truly enjoy learning from all that have been and keep going back.

This forum seems to have died a not so slow death. Probably due to the forums on www.tripadvisor.com

In the words of the old man on the cart in the Python film and show...."I'm not dead yet". Neither is this. It just needs a write up in the magazine or better link from the site.
Sorry I have nothing on Tulum. I'm off to St John in a bit (suprise...not) and will let people know what's new.
As for trip advisor, it's VERY edited, and as with any review site, sometimes the reviews are loaded. In other words, the place down the road posts negative about competition. As always, read lots, be open minded and remember, a lizard in the shower isn't always a bad thing. They eat the bugs!

I am new to the community on here but I am sure we can start getting things moving again with some effort.
anyone on here that has a favorite place on the islands should post, best food joint? talk about it, happiest Rum shop? let everyone know where it is.
I can only speak of Barbados but I have been there many times and would love to share my tips and info with people. Actually just got back from being married there and we did it all ourselves with no co-ordinators or hotels...
we stay longer every time we go.

I just got back from Jamaica (repeat visit). Did the Canopy Tour that Chukka offers and it was GREAT! 9 zips down the mountain and ending in a 10 minute walk through Cranbrook (beautiful park with lots of flowers and peacocks). Would totally recommend to anyone going to Ocho Rios/Runaway Bay area.

We're sorry to see that our forum has gone quiet lately, but I wanted to let you know that we're preparing to relaunch the CT+L web site between late December and early February - and the new online community and forum will be bigger and better than ever. The new community will allow you to upload and share photos, videos and stories about your trips, as well as plan future trips by selecting from a broad list of destinations, hotels and travel specials. We will also be inviting comments on the individual articles and features we post each day. I'll be sure to post an announcement here on the forum once we've officially launched the new site, and we'll also send out notifications in the monthly newsletter...so get ready :) We hope you'll enjoy the new site as much as we do!

YAY! glad to see this will be back and hopefully more used. Planning my next trip to the Caribbean is the only think that gets me through our Canadian winters and the forum sure helps.

Hello again to friends old and new...
There's a phrase that is used in the Virgin Islands..."It soon come" What this means is what you might expect in the Caribbean, that whatver it is (the bus, a rum punch, the plumber, the electric coming back on) will be coming back...sometime. And it does, and hopefully the new forum will as well.
Hopefully, it will not run away from itself (how about registering users with the need to confirm that through a link in their email and/or having to type in a word to prove you aren't a "bot" so we can do away with spam and all?
I wouldn't mind email notification when someone replies to me here either. Whatever Admin does, thanks for making the attempt and good luck. We be missin dot mon.
Happy New Year to all and happy new forum as well.
