Just spent a week there. Nice place, 20 years ago. From what I can tell, the pics on their website are just as old too. If you want seclusion, deteriorating facilities, etc., then this is the place to stay. We were really disappointed and felt we were scammed, but not sure by who. Apple Vacations offered the package and it seems CT & L endorses them, go figure. All I can figure is that CT & L does not research their "Travel Specials", which lost all credibility with me.

GRA said they are "renovating", more like closing down. The Andes Bar is not open, neither is Jimmy's Beach Bar & Grille. The picture of the Lagoon Cafe on their website is actually the pool facility eatery, it too is closed for renovations. Their website looks great but does not do the place "justice". After you are tired of eating lunch and breakfast at the restaurant/cafe that IS still operating, your only real choice is a $30 (5 mile) round-trip cab ride to Hemingway's in town, where you will drop an easy $50+. Look for someplace on the south end of the island, or wait for a few years until they are finished renovating.

The picture of the guy using a 15 inch old style PC screen could have been a clue but otherwise the pictures on the website are so small, you can't tell whats good or old. And the restaurant pictures don't really show the restaurants.

This makes me want to mention that before choosing, asking about a place on this forum may get honest replies. TripAdvisor.com is also good to the point where you need to find the middle reviews if they exist at times. Overly glowing reviews are sometimes shills for the hotel. Horrifying experiences sometimes are written by the competitors. Of course, if a place has 10 or more 1/2 star reviews...you can almost count on them being true and a place to avoid.
