Single in the Caribbean

Hey all 1st post and looking for suggestions. I'm a single guy, 50yo and I'm planning to get away in the first week or so in Jan. 09. I've been to the VI's, both British and US more times than I can count so I don't want to go there. My last trip was to Negril which as a single guy was a blast. Much like a "No Reservations" episode gone bad, lol. That said I'd like to try somewhere new. Somewhere single friendly, other singles, fewer kids and couples. Something on the beach would be nice. I like local flavor and somewhere that you can find a party if you want to, but not a party till you puke place. I also enjoy getting out and seeing the "island"

I have been considering a "by the cabin" sailboat charter in the southern Carib but not having much luck finding that. I can fly out of Chicago, St. Louis or Indy.

All suggestions welcome.

I agree that this is a completely under-utilized forum. Its probably too late for advice but you could always go to Hedonism II or III in Jamiaca, but as I have a few freinds that live there...you probably wont want to see much of the island alone and definately not at night to most areas.
remember on each island there are always singles party things to do. just have to do your homework. Barbados for example has the Boatyard and the Jolly Roger Cruise that are both geared to partying singles of all ages. good luck.

Yeah I've thought about Hedo, the place kind of intrigues me actually. As a single guy though I have some reservations about going to a CO resort. I'm not so sure I want to be the odd man out, lol. I do have to admit though I've always wanted to do a CO resort. Maybe I'm wrong about this huh?

I have no problem getting out and seeing the Island. My first trip there I hooked up with some locals and got out into the countryside. And all over at all hours of the night. Bourdain would have been Jealous, hehehe.

hmmm, now Barbados, I've considered that. What area/town would be the best for lots of activity, perhaps within walking distance of a hotel/resort? I'll check out your links. Thanks again.

Yeah this forum used to be more active but it was dying off so most of us gave up and went over to TripAdvisor's forums. I only peek on here occasionally.

When I took my only "solo trip", I went to Club Med in Turks and Caicos (Hedo is a little too wild for me; I have no problem with the nudity part, it was the other stuff that was too much for me) It was awesome! Great mix of singles and couples (no kids allowed). I met some really great people and had a blast! There's plenty to do at the resort so you don't get bored and the beach is one of the best I've ever been to (it's on the same beach as the really pricey, upscale resorts)
