air travel right now

how does everyone feel about air travel to The Dom. Rep. right now??? So many of our friends say it is dangerous??!! We are planning to go in April........

I go to the Dominican every year. Air travel there is very safe. In fact, the last time, it was harder to go through customs at La Romana then it was in Philadelphia.

same here, we go almost every year. we have never had a problem getting there,leaving or while there. the people there are some of the friendliest we have dealt with.

We are looking into going in June and with the problems in Haiti it is a concern. You can check for travel updates at www.travel.state.gov, or check www.intl.faa.gov/. These sites are updated daily with any travel alerts. Or if you are in the US, you can call the American travelers hotline at (317) 472-2328. We plan on going in June, but are buying travel insurance just in case the political uprising in Haiti spills over into the DR. Good Luck and Have lots of fun!

I went to the DR in September. Yeah security is tight but not uncomfortable. I'd rather be safe than sorry. :)
