By shimmy2121 at 2007-05-16 17:32

Is there a more pristine place to visit without flying half way around the world. Anguilla was perfect in every way. The weather, the people, the food, the service, the atmosphere...it was sensational. Please share with me any stories from your visit to this wonderful gem in the Caribbean. I have about 600 photos from my trip I can easily share.

Maruba Spa
By MarubaBelize at 2007-05-10 14:20

THE ISSUE
I recently visited Belize and learned about this issue-- Please help get betterinformed. Belize's Maruba Jungle Spa is illegally selling snakes preserved in bottles of rum as a gimmick for tourists. This is why, in 2004, the Belize Forest Department pressed charges against Maruba.

When recently contacted (April 2007), Maruba argued that they are "creatively" making use of "pest species" and that Belize's Wildlife Protection Act of 1981 "has provisions." In fact, collecting and selling wildlife is highly illegal in Belize and in most other countries.
