Default I will never spend another nickel in Mexico

After seeing Mexicans burning the American flag, I will NEVER spend another nickel in Mexico. Any self-respecting American should boycott vacationing in Mexico.

Perhaps you shouldn't travel to many countries then. As at the moment Mexico is not the only country with people who feel that way. Have a look at yourselves in the mirror, yikes.

Default less whiny Americans. Great!

That would be great if Americans would stop coming to Mexico. They're such a bunch of whiners and complainers anyway. That's why I go to Cuba, few whiny Americans.

Default Americans abroad

The original email is a typical narrow statement.
Any country that disagrees with American policy, (based on the tone of the original writer), should be boycotted by American citizens.
Please open your eyes. Our respect around the world as friendly neighbors is poor at best. Visit any country, and tell them you are American, and their attitude changes, and not to the positive. Believe it.
Our frequent self-serving foreign policies, and our vast wealth and abundance in the USA, only serve to escalate this worldwide impression.
Again I say, open your eyes. Put away your American way of seeing things, and see them from the country you are visiting.
Only then will you see that ALL we as Amercians are doing and creating, is not necessarily beneficial to the country you are in.
You are a visitor. If you don't like their country's response to something related to America, then by all rights, do not visit there.
But your statement reeks controlism, in that you assume that the world will change it's views, because you decide not to spend a nickel there.
The USA does have the right to dictate and force it's ways to the rest of the world.
There are countries and governments in the past who have tried forcefully, and the only results were animosity.

As Rodney King said, "Can't we all just get along"....
Yes, we can. And like the old West, it all starts with the Sheriff in town. Yes, we Americans are now the big sheriffs in the world. However, any arrogant sheriff that thinks he's bigger and better than all the townsfolk, will eventually get deposed by an angry mob.
Let's all just get along, and think of the other people who WE might be affecting with our actions.
thanks....

Just a thought. American's really aren't welcome anywhere right now, and do you blame other countries for having that viewpoint?

I am an American, and we're viewed as egotistical and rude. If you want to travel, then travel, and expect other countries to have a negative view of you and your homeland.

Such is life. It will not keep me from traveling though. I welcome other peoples thoughts/cultures. It's nice to see other people's points of view because then it helps you put yourself into perspective.

I'm American and I find the no matter were you go if you treat people with respect and kindness you will get the same. I have traveled all over the world. I also try to learn a few words so I can speak to the people were I am staying. I think that most people just would like for american to no expect them to speak english tho most counties have english as a sec. lang.

So Americans have too much material wealth and are arrogant? Let me see, I suppose the next natural disaster, calamity, war famine injustice etc. we UGLY Americans should stay at home. We will encourage our young people NOT to have fundraisers to help out victims in other countries with their tragic events. No, we will tell them to let them help themselves after all our horrible policies will only harm them with our compassion. Maybe we should teach American children to think only of themselves and look to foriegn lands to help us during times of war, after all the Americans and Brits did such a terrible thing by liberating Europe at the end of WW2. We probably should not do lifesaving surgeries on children from all over the world in our hospitals at NO COST either. I agree, we selfish selfcentered Americans should be made ot stay in our own country and not make anyone let us help them because after all, our Men And Women serving this country don't care for anyone but ourselves. If you dislike us so much ,solve your own problems and do not take our tourist dollars.
Make no mistake, there are some of our countrymen who are rude and I do not like them either, but you are not unlike us we have met many rude citizens from all over the world in NYC etc. When we travel we treat others the way that we would like to be treated.
Just read some history and see how we feel that the happiness of the world is really important to Americans and we only want the best for all of you.

Smile traveling as an American

'Visit any country, and tell them you are American, and their attitude changes, and not to the positive. Believe it.'

That just hasn't been my experience. I have been in Europe 3 months and have had nothing but positive experience regarding my being an American. I just got back from Istanbul, where I thought maybe my being an American would be seen as a negative...everyone who asked where I was from then told me all about their many friends from the U.S. So I think the perception of the

Of course, when I travel, I try to be respectful of the country I am in, use a few words of the local language (even if my pronunciation is not perfect) and generally not call attention to myself by being drunk, flashy or inappropriately dressed.
